Are you going above and beyond for your clients?

When they speak of you what level of praise are they giving their friends, family and co-workers?

One of my favorite quotes of wisdom is from Bob Burg and John David Mann’s classic The Go GiverDuring the story it explains that there are 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success. The first law is the Law of Value. It states, “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”

Personally, I feel the term “value” is overused and misunderstood. I have seen many business people who feel that showing up to a meeting is enough value in itself. They are under the false impression that the potential client owes them something since they managed to show up to work that day.  Simply showing up doesn’t provide value and it never will.

If you feel like people owe you anything in business then you will most likely be out of business soon. No one owes us anything. However, potential clients will do business with someone who goes above and beyond of what their expectations are. The ideal client sees the value in your efforts. They will go out of their way for someone who goes out of their way for them.

My challenge to you my fellow leaders is to take a hard look at your business process and ask yourself, “Am I truly going the extra mile?” When you can honestly say you’re going above and beyond for others then you will truly be exercising the Law of Value.

Always make it a point to give more in value than you take in payment. True success depends on it.
